Step 2: Mark Absences When You Can't Attend

Marking an absence tells the scheduling algorithm to skip you for that meeting. This keeps you off the upcoming schedule for dates you can't make and saves your officer the back-and-forth of reassigning a role you couldn't have done anyway.

Two Kinds of Absences

  • Single date — "I'm out next Thursday."
  • Recurring — "I'm always unavailable on the last meeting of every month" or "I'm gone every Tuesday in December."

Use single-date absences for vacations and one-offs. Use recurring absences for standing conflicts.

Where to Set It

From your dashboard → Absences (or My Absences). Click Add Absence, pick the date or recurrence pattern, and save.

What Happens After

  • Future schedules skip you for the absent dates — the algorithm won't assign you on a day you're marked absent.
  • Already-published schedules are not changed. If you're already assigned to a role on a date you later mark as absent, that assignment stays on the schedule with your name on it. You're responsible for declining the role through the system, or for following your club's procedure to find a replacement.
